Jan. 8, 2008

Today, Jill told us that we all need to go ahead and make new blogs since they were all being blocked. We turned in our first news analysis. It was really weird watching a different news station, and it was also weird focusing in on all these technical things. But I think it made me appreciate what they were doing more. Virginia Kerr from KMOV came to talk to our class today. She shared some information about how she got into the broadcast field and what it takes to be a good reporter/anchor. She gave lots of great tips on how to put ourselves out there and not let people stand in the way of our dreams. The interview was really fun. She was very candid and funny. I really enjoyed. After that we went over to the TV studio, and Beth shot an interview with Virginia for Mixed Media. During the interview I ran a camera. After the show was shot, we talked in our groups about our plans for shooting the first news packages. Since our photographer’s schedule conflicted with the person we wanted to interview, we decided to shot it ourselves. The last thing we did was watch Haley voice over the j-term package. We all got to see how it was done, so that we could do it for our own packages. Tomorrow will be going out in the field to shoot our b-roll, interviews, and stand-ups. I’m really excited. It’s going to be a lot of work, but it should be fun.
