Today was the first day of the Advanced TV Talent class. We all introduced ourselves to the class. We mentioned where we were from, our majors and why we were taking the class. Our professor, Jill Schroeder introduced herself and gave us some of her background information. We received our calendar for the term which showed what we would do everyday and what assignments would be due when. We also received our syllabus and some of the assignments we would be doing over the term. Jill explained how we would be doing four newscasts. We each signed up for two on-air dates and two behind the scene spots. She gave us a basic overview of how to dress and look when we go on-air. Jill explained the news interview segment assignment to us. I need to start thinking about a possible guest to bring in and interview. As of now, I have no ideas. We were given a 20 minutes break to go to the computer lab and set up our blogs for the class. I wrote my introductory blog that told a little about me. After the break, we went over the local news analysis assignment. I plan to try and get this assignment out of the way as soon as possible since it is fairly easy. We went over the definition of a news package and watched an example of a gnome news package. After that we all headed over to the TV studio. Jen and Tracy shot the news. We all got turns to sit at the desk and read from the prompter. We took turns working the cameras and prompters also.
